Skip Offenhauser
I was born in San Diego and thought I would live my entire life there. But things change. San Diego changed quite a bit as I grew up and I guess I did too. I attended San Diego State University and majored in communication. I had no idea what I’d do with a communication degree but I had fun getting it. After graduating, one thing led to another and I found myself pursuing a teaching credential. As I look back on things I was a fool for not taking this route sooner.
After receiving my credential I moved to Beaverton, Oregon and shortly after that married the most wonderful woman in the world. After teaching in Beaverton for 10 years we moved to Bend, Oregon. I am currently the principal of Buckingham Elementary in Bend – a wonderful school of about 550 kids.
Technology is a passion of mine in and out of school. I don’t have any techie/wiring skills. Don’t ask me what my processor speed is or the difference between ram and rom. I have no idea how computers work or how to program anything. But I know how to use technology to make my job and my life easier and more efficient and I enjoy teaching others how to do the same. And just for the record, I use a Mac. For five years I worked in a district that was Windows only. It was like living in the dark ages!
